Where I've Been

Wow! So much has happened since I last blogged.  I thought I would do a quick catch-up post to hopefully bring my blog up to date on all that has happened since I last blogged.  Most of my recent posts were Pregnancy Updates and didn't contain too much information, so I have a lot to catch up on!

1. To start with, my husband and I welcomed our beautiful son, Charlie, on March 22.  He has changed our lives so much in just three short months--is it strange that I feel like he has always been apart of our lives and I couldn't imagine our family without him being a part of it?  We ended up having a scheduled induction on the day I turned 39 weeks pregnant which was nice because we knew exactly what day he was going to be born on (unless he wanted to come early) and we could coordinate and make sure family was available to travel to us!  I want to type up our birth story because the day was so wonderful, I don't want to forget any small detail (and I better get to it since it's already been three months!).

My last bump photo!  Man, do I miss my bump--but whoa look at that swelling!
Our first picture as a family of three!  All that is missing is sweet Elli!

2. I became a stay at home mom.  Two months before my due date, I told work that once the baby was born, I wouldn't be coming back to work.  That way, I could train my replacement and it could be a smooth transition.  Right around 35 weeks (I think, it's all kind of a blur), I thought that my water had broken and basically flew out of the office and home to monitor the situation.  With my OB's guidance, we decided to go to Labor and Delivery to see what was going on.  Oh by the way, Tom was out of town on a work trip.  My mother-in-law picked me up from our house and drove me to the hospital.  After some monitoring and tests, it was determined that my water had not broken yet, but I was having contractions.  They sent me home from the hospital to rest and follow-up with my OB the following week.  My mother-in-law told me that she would feel better if I stayed at their house until Tom came home from his trip.  I decided, with communications with work, that that day was my last at work.  I definitely miss my co-workers and being able to contribute financially to our family, but I am so lucky to get to spend my days with our little man!  I couldn't imagine going back to work and not being able to be with him all day!

I could just do this all day!  Laundry and cleaning can wait!
3. We have done a lot of traveling back home to see my family!  One thing I really missed when I was working was not being able to go back home to see my family.  Well, I have definitely made up for all of that over the past three months!  I have gone down to see them three times--two of them on my own with a baby and a dog!  I never would have thought that I would be brave enough to drive the almost five hour trip alone with them, but I did it!

4. We are doing a massive house cleaning.  I mean, MASSIVE!  I thought that nesting was strong during my last month of pregnancy, but it is even more intense afterwards!  I don't know if it is because I am home all day looking at the clutter and mess or if I just want more room for Charlie's things--but it is high time that we go through every cabinet, drawer, closet and get rid of things we do not need!

5. I have finally been able to start running again.  I didn't realize just how much I missed it until I started again!  I definitely have a long way to go until I am back to where I was before I was pregnant, but just getting out and getting a some miles in has been so good for me, both mentally as well as physically.  My sister, Tom, and I are planning on running a half-marathon in October, so I need to get to training.  But, right now, I am just focusing on getting out and building up the mileage.

That is all for brain still isn't working quite like it was before baby!  I'm linking up with the girls from Five on Friday--I used to love doing weekly link-ups when I was blogging regularly as it gave me some sort of structure for posting.  Let's see if I can get back to posting somewhat regularly!  Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
