Things I'm Loving

I have been so absent from blogging lately {which is definitely NOT something I'm loving} and frankly, I have no good excuse.  I find myself constantly buried in laundry, dirty dishes, and house work.  I, obviously, am not a good time manager--maybe my blog name is very, very wrong.

Let's not dwell in the negative--this is a phase and it will pass.  I am going to get back into blogging/writing because it makes me happy and allows me to document even the most mundane activities so we can remember this time in our lives!

I have found many, many new things that I am loving and I haven't done a post like this in a while so I thought it was about time to do another!

{1} These towels from Anthropologie.  My grandmother surprised me with them in my Easter basket and I absolutely love them! I have them washed and ready to use in our kitchen!

{2} Paper goods.  I am an office supply hoarder.  Seriously.  People at work make fun of me because everything I use at my desk is either {a} brightly colored/patterned {b} monogrammed {c} is new from what I was using yesterday or {d} all of the above.  My philosophy is that we spend so much time at our desks working, we need fun office supplies to make the day a little bit brighter and happier!  Here are a few of my recent gifts/purchases:

{How cute are these notecards?!}

{Seashell Notepad/Mousepad}

{Monogrammed Notepad}

{The absolute cutest pencils!}

{3} Nail polish.  Obviously, not a shocking or recent love, but I am seriously LOVING the spring colors that are out now.  I don't know about y'all, but I felt like this was a cold, bitter, and long winter and am craving spring and summer.  I have bought two of the new spring colors from Essie {am having to hold back buying more} and got my nails painted this fun dark orchid color last week--I am apparently having a thing for purple this spring.

{4} Alcohol.  Oh gosh, that just sounds awful, but let me tell you what we have recently found.  This wine is an awesome {and affordable} Pinot Grigio that we have been loving recently.  Very crisp and refreshing--perfect for warmer evenings.

And these Mike's Hard FROZEN Lemonades--I saw these at Sam's and had to pick them up.  They are pouches that you freeze and you can either pour them into a glass or drink them straight out of the freezer pouch.  Um, hello adult juice boxes.  We haven't had one yet, but I will let y'all know what we think!

{5} Coffee and Tea.  Let me just say this first and foremost, I love Starbucks and they have an amazing iPhone app that I have been using for over a year now.  You can register your gift cards and scan your phone at the checkout {no need to hang on to tons of cards and not be sure which one has what balance} and you can accumulate points and earn a free drink/snack after so many.  However, I have to be at work by 7 AM and cannot get my rear in gear fast enough to get to Starbucks before my work day starts {I do go for lunch so do not fear Starbucks, I will continue getting my Venti Non-Fat Caramel Lattes}.  I have fallen head-over-heels in love with a few specific K-Cups lately that give me my caffeine boost in the morning!  {Also some hot teas that are delicious!}

{Cafe Almond Biscotti}

{Caramel Vanilla Cream}

{Sleepytime Herbal Tea}

{Mandarin Orange Spice Herbal Tea}

{How cute is this Tervis coffee mug that mom gave me for Easter??  Perfect for refills at the office!}

{6} Popcorn.  When my mom and Mattie came up to visit me a few weeks ago, we went to the Fresh Market over in Newport News and finally bought me some Coconut Oil.  That night, we made homemade popcorn using one-ish tablespoon of coconut oil and a couple drizzles around the pot of olive oil and 3/4 cups of popcorn kernels.  To make it, get the oils nice and hot {I put my stove top on high to do this} and drop in the kernels.  Shake the pot to get the kernels nice and covered and place the lid on the pot.  Keep moving the pot around to keep it from burning and within seconds it will start popping!  When the popping slows down, go ahead and cut the stove off and remove the pot from the heat.  For my popcorn, I love pouring melted butter, a little salt, and freshly grated parmesean cheese on top! Yum!!

What are some things that y'all are currently loving??

Easter 2013

This year for Easter, Tom, Elli, and I drove down to North Carolina to celebrate with my family.  The plan was to drive down after work on Thursday, but both of our cars were having problems on Wednesday, so we decided it would be safer to drive down early Friday morning.

We arrived in town around lunch time and spent the day running errands to prepare for Easter.  We picked up the ham in a town close by, ate lunch at my favorite barbeque restaurant {even though I don't like barbeque, they have the best cheeseburgers!--Lexington Barbeque, or as locals call it The Monk}, and then hung out at the house.

Saturday, my sister and I went shopping with my grandmother in Greensboro.  I had my eye set on a new pair of Jack Rogers.  The last time I bought an "everyday" pair, I got black ones, but it limited what I could wear them with.  So, this time I went with platinum ones and I am so excited to start wearing them!  While we were shopping, I saw the most beautiful periwinkle necklace at J. Crew--it has these flower/medallion pieces around the neckline.  It was beyond beautiful, but I knew that Tom would be furious if I spent that kind of money on it!  And of course, it is sold out online.  If any of y'all know where I could find a good replica of it, let me know! I am in love with it!

On Sunday, we started out celebrating Easter with my mom's family over at my aunt's house.  It was so delicious--normally, I have a hard time finding something to eat on Easter because I absolutely do not like ham.  This year, they made cucumber sandwiches, chicken salad sandwiches, a ham, and all sorts of yummy sides!

Later that day, we headed over to my dad's parents' house to celebrate with his side of the family.  Dinner was so delicious--along with the ham, they made beef tenderloin and chicken breasts that were out of this world!

As per usual lately, I didn't take too many pictures {I have got to get better about this}, but treasure the ones that I did take!

We had just missed my cousin Lilli being in town from Texas {she was one of my bridesmaids--see post here}.  At our wedding, she told us that she was knitting us a blanket for our gift like our great-grandmother used to do for everyone that got married.  Well, while she was in town, she left it for us!  We absolutely love it, Lilli, and will always cherish it!

I am so happy that we were able to make it back to my hometown for Easter.  It is hard for us to make it back for holidays with our work schedule, but I am so happy that we made it work!

I hope everyone had a happy, healthy, and blessed Easter!
