Current Obsessions

I have found some new products that I am in love with and wanted to share!

{One} Lush Products

Last year around Christmas, I went to our local Lush store and purchased some bath bombs.  Now, the bath bombs are a little bit pricy, but are worth every single penny!  I saved my very last one until last month when I finally broke down and used it.  I finally made it back to the Lush store soon after and not only bought a few more bath bombs, but I also bought a new facial cleanser, moisturizer, and toner.  And let me tell you, these are amazing!  If you go to the store, the salesperson will help match you up with the correct products for your specific needs.  My favorite part is that the products smell so delicious!

{Look at this beautiful color this particular bath bomb turned the water!}

{Two} Merona Chunky Sweater

If you know anything about me, you will probably know that 90% of my closet consists of mainly black clothing.  Tom even gets on me about how much I have!  But, I just had to have this sweater!  It is so cozy and the perfect length to wear with leggings!  You can find it {here}.

{Three} Teavana

Across the hall from Lush is a Teavana store.  I had always passed it and saw that they gave samples of tea, but had never really gone inside to see what it is all about.  Let me just tell you this...I am obsessed!  They have loose tea and you can make whatever combination you want!  I even got this awesome teamaker to brew my tea in!  If you love tea, I would definitely check it out!  Plus, they are now owned by Starbucks so you can use your rewards card there, too!

{Four} Elli's New Toy--Wellington

Don't ask me how her new floppy dog toy got the name of Wellington, but I swear Elli knows who we are talking about when we say "Go get Wellington!"  She plays with him downstairs and when we go upstairs for bed, she grabs him and carries him up to bed, too.  It is seriously the cutest thing ever!

{Five} Boxwood Wreath

I found this wreath at Target {not in the Christmas section, over in the homegoods section} and I thought it would be perfect for our front door!  I think we might even be able to use it year-round, not just during the holiday season!

I hope that y'all have a great Tuesday!!

Thanksgiving Recap

Well this post is a little late, but better late than never!  For Thanksgiving this year, Tom and I went over to his parents house to eat a late lunch.  His mom and I were in charge of all the sides {my favorite part of the meal} and Tom, his brother, and dad were in charge of the turkeys {Tom's favorite part of the meal}.   Later that day, I was able to FaceTime with my family back in North Carolina.  I tell you what, not spending holidays with my family doesn't get any easier, but it is nice to be able to "see" their faces on those special days!

One of my absolute favorite side dishes for holidays is green rice.  It has been a staple in my family for as long as I can remember and it is SO GOOD!  You can find the recipe {here}.

I also made an apple pie, but completely forgot to take a picture of it!

Before we ate our Thanksgiving meal, Tom, Elli, and I went to the field near his parents' house to take some pictures for our Christmas card.  We always manage to convince his brother to take them for us!  We started out taking them with my big girl camera, but it was so slow at snapping the shots, we ended up just using my iPhone.

Here are just a few of my favorites:

Later that night, we ran to Target to check out the Black Friday deals.  We weren't looking for anything too crazy; really all I wanted was the most recent season of Modern Family on DVD for a good price.  I found that and we picked up his parents a Bluray player that was marked down for a great price!  Well with the way they wind you through the aisles to check out, I ended up finding tons of other essentials that I needed...after I took this picture I ended up grabbing a tube of chapstick.  Man, we are crazy Black Friday shoppers here!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I'm Back!

Well, my decision to switch my blog name/domain/URL/etc. did not play out well!  I realized I had so much content already on this blog and I kept searching through it to find pictures and recipes that I should just continue on with my little spot on the internet!

So much has happened in our lives since I last blogged...we bought a house, celebrated one year of marriage, traveled, and settled in to our second year of marriage!  I have so much to blog and cannot wait to get back in to it!!

One Year...

I had ever intention of having this post ready to go before we went out of town to celebrate our one year anniversary, but like most things on my blog lately, I ran out of time!  So, it is a little late...

It is so hard for me to believe that ONE YEAR has passed since we were married!  It honestly feels like just yesterday we were planning the wedding, walking through the venue, taste-testing wedding cake, and finding the perfect {last minute} bridesmaids dresses.  Everyone told me that it would fly by, but I had no idea.  I'm almost afraid that if I blink, we will have been married for ten years with two kids and I won't know where the time went!

Our wedding was one of the best days of my life.  It was the most amazing celebration of our union and one heck of a party.  I told Tom that I would love to have another wedding {at this, his eyes bugged out of his head because he was thinking I was ready to "upgrade to a newer model"--don't worry guys that is not the case AT ALL!}.  I explained further to him that our wedding was the best day of my life; I loved having most of the people we love in one place and dancing the night away!  So maybe not do the wedding again--just the reception {lets be honest--the actual ceremony is a little stressful, what with all you have to repeat and all of those eyes on you!}.

Tom--this past year has been absolutely amazing being able to call you my husband.  I cannot believe where the past year has taken us: job promotions, an apartment, buying our first home, going to see Aerosmith, Disney World, Washington, DC, just to name a few things.  I cannot wait to see where the next 60+ years will take us!

Here are a few of my favorite photos from our wedding:

I hope y'all are having a fantastic Monday!

Monday Brain Dump

Happy Monday, Y'all!

I feel like I have a million things in my head lately and am constantly forgetting things.  I have an ongoing list on my desk at work of things I need to do, shopping lists, etc. that is at least keeping me sane!  So, this post is going to be a hodge podge of what is going on in our lives lately...

  • Can anyone else not believe that it is almost JUNE?! I feel like this year is flying by...next month is our one year anniversary!  I feel like it was just yesterday that we were planning everything out and now it's  almost been one whole year!!
  • I got a new iPhone last weekend, so it's strange to open up my photos and only see 33 pictures, when my old iPhone was always at 2,000+ pictures.  But don't worry, I downloaded the app Dropbox and it automatically uploads all of my pictures so I have access to them from my laptop, desktop, and iPhone.  {I had too many pictures to use the Cloud without having to pay for it!}
  • For Mother's Day last week, we went over to Tom's parents' house and cooked breakfast for them.  Elli absolutely adores their dog, Simba, and they used to play and wrestle with each other when they were younger.  Now, they nap.
    Aren't they so sweet?!
  • For Mother's Day for Tom's mom, we gave her this wine.  I thought it was absolutely hysterical when we saw it in the store!

  • We are loving this warm weather that has finally settled itself here in Eastern Virginia!  Although it is raining today, we have had some fantastic days that we can leave our porch door open and Elli has enjoyed being able to lay out there and people watch {and occasionally bark at people}.

  • They have really started to make some progress with our townhome.  We get so excited to walk by it in the evenings and see what all they have done on it!  I guess that is a huge advantage to buying in the same neighborhood that we already live in!
    {Picture from Monday, May 13, 2013}

  • The sunset was absolutely breathtaking on our walk the other night.  This is not the best picture, but the colors were magnificent!

  • Tom laughs at me everytime I want to buy Elli a new toy.  I'll admit, she does have a ton of toys, but she treats each and every one like a baby and will pick out one toy and that is the only one she wants to play with for the day.  Yesterday, it was a reindeer stuffed animal {Clarice from Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer} that she got for Christmas that she would not put down and was cuddling it.

  • I have been a reading machine lately!  I read the entire Hunger Games series, the new Women's Murder Club book {12th of Never}, and the last-ever Sookie Stackhouse book {Dead Ever After}.  I can honestly say that all of these books were fantastic!  I could not put any of the Hunger Games books down--I could not find a decent stopping point in any of them.  It got to the point where I had to stop mid-chapter because each chapter would end with a cliff hanger and then I would dream all night about what would happen next!!  The newest Women's Murder Club book was so good!  If you have read the series, you will not be disappointed in the book!  Now for Dead Ever After, I will tell you that it didn't end how I had originally wanted it to end.  I mean, I have read the entire series and kind-of built it up in my head how I wanted the series to end and who I wanted Sookie to end up with.  But, I am very happy with how it ended.  Loose ends were tied up and I feel very satisfied with how it ended.  Don't you hate when books leave you going "What in the world?!"--this one definitely does not!!
Well, I think that is enough babble for one post!  I hope that y'all had a fantastic weekend and that your weeks are off to a great start!
