Busy Little Bee

Life has been absolutely crazy these past couple of weeks and sadly my blog has suffered. Tom and I are busy packing to move at the end of September and work has kicked into high gear.

This week I worked on Monday (my usual day off) which meant no pre-planned blog posts this week.

Luckily, I have a super long weekend coming up and I will get back to blogging on a regular basis!! Thanks for sticking around through all of the chaos!

New Trick

Elli has recently learned how to jump off of the diving board. For awhile now, she has been jumping off of the side to retrieve her toys, but she has just recently started jumping off of the diving board!

Aerosmith Concert, aka My Dream Come True

Sunday night, Tom and I finally got to go see Aerosmith in concert! As y'all may now, I am a giant fan of their music and have always dreamed of going to see them in concert. When Tom and I saw that they were going to be within driving distance, we knew we had to get tickets.

Here are some picture recaps of our little trip:

Ready to go to the concert!! {Dress: Old Navy, Necklace: Groop Dealz}

Traffic. The entire way. I had SERIOUS road rage.

We got there just in time for the Aerosmith set change. We missed almost all of Cheap Trick (only saw one song).

I did make a point to pick up one of these little babies (and by little, I totally mean huge! I have no idea how people can drink more than one of these pint size treats!). It was my first time trying them and it won't be my last!

I was mesmorized the moment Aerosmith took the stage. They are absolutely amazing in concert! It was everything I had hope the concert would be and more! They played a ton of their old music and a few new songs. I snapped this picture during "Ragdoll" which is my absolute favorite Aerosmith song!

Tom and I attempted many self portraits at the concert, but this is by far the best of the bunch. Which, by the way, thank you creepy guy behind us with the busted up/bruised face for joining us purposely in the picture.

Aerosmith played for almost two hours! I could not believe the amount of energy they still have onstage--they are all truly gifted musicians and performers!

By the time Tom and I made our way back to the car and out of the parking lot, it was already midnight. Thank goodness we didn't hit any traffic on the way home. We pulled in to the driveway a little bit after 3:00 AM and headed straight to sleep. Tom was such a trooper, he had work the next morning (I have Mondays off). We are both still recovering from the late night though!!

I already have plans in my head that if they ever come nearby again, we are going! It was such an incredible night and it is definitely something that I can mark off of my bucket list!

A Girl and Her Music

I have always loved music! Ever since I was a little girl, my favorite thing to do was to listen and sing along to music. As a little girl, musicals were my favorite movies {I wore out multiple Mary Poppins video tapes} and my mom always put my sister and I to sleep with classical music.

Not only has my love for music grown over the years, but my tastes in music have truly developed. I honestly have an appreciation for all types of music: from classical to class rock, and pop to hip hop, I love them all {some more than others, but I do appreciate true musicians}.

I don't know about y'all, but I feel like music is like a soundtrack to my life. I can hear a song and it can instantly transport me back in time to an event that occurred while I heard the song, or a movie/tv show that I watched that played the song.

Music also has the ability to completely change my day. Just Friday, I was dragging on my way to work because I knew that I still would have one more half day to work {we rotate Saturdays at the Pediatricians office I work at--we are open half days on Saturdays for sick call}. I scavenged through my CDs and found one that I knew would put a pep in my step--Aqua. I have probably had this cd for 10+ years, but the fast beats definitely brightened my morning.

This weekend is a big music weekend for me. We are leaving this afternoon to go see Aerosmith in concert. My fingers and toes are still crossed in hopes that it does not end up getting cancelled. You see, we were originally supposed to go see the concert July 3, but Steven Tyler was under doctors orders not to sing that night. To say I was devastated is an understatement. I have wanted to go see Aerosmith ever since I was a little girl. I grew up on Aerosmith and have listened to it religiously. In fact, despite my quick trip to the Aqua cd, the only other cd that I listen to in my car is the greatest hits of Aerosmith.

I am so, so excited for the concert tonight!! It is up near DC, so it's going to be about a three and a half hour car ride...again, it is so worth it to finally be able to see them in concert!!

Meet Claire...

Right before our wedding, I was suffering from terrible acne. As a teenager, I was incredibly lucky when it came to my skin; I would have the occasional blemish, but applying some rubbing alcohol at night almost ensured that I would wake up without the blemish. So, when I started suffering from cystic acne right before the biggest (and most photographed) day of my life, I had no idea what to do.

I decided my first course of action should be to try over the counter acne treatments. My problem was that I have very sensitive skin. So, basically I was making my skin even worse by trying to treat the acne.

Next, I talked to my doctor about my options and she prescribed me an acne cream. I was to apply it twice a day to my entire face. Again, I had the same issues: I was overdrying my face with the acne medication and causing my skin to break out even more! I tried just spot treating, but didn't see any results.

For almost a year, I had been debating over buying a Clarisonic. They are definitely an investment and not something that I could just go out and buy and not have thought a lot about it. I was at my wits end and our wedding day was fast approaching. After reading many, MANY reviews, I finally decided to buy the Mia. I decided to buy the one-speed Clarisonic Mia because most of the reviews I read comparing the Mia to the Mia 2 said that they hardly used the second speed.

I chose the Berry color, because we all know that the color definitely helps!! As for face wash, I ordered the small bottle of philosophy's purity. I absolutely love it--it makes my skin feel so clean and refreshed. The first few times I used the Clarisonic I was absolutely amazed (and grossed out) at how much of my makeup was coming off. When I used to just wash my skin, almost no makeup would come off and I just assumed there was no makeup to come off!

No matter how cute my hot pink Mia may be, the most important thing is the results! And...my results were spectacular! After using the Mia for just over two weeks (the time between when I got my Mia and the wedding) my skin was a night and days different! All of my cystic acne was gone...and I was getting fewer and fewer blemishes. Now that I've been using it for a little over two months, I will say that I do still get the occasional blemish, but I have not (knock on wood) gotten another cystic zit. The way that I have found that works best for me to use my Clarisonic, is to use it in the shower. The entire thing is waterproof and I find that if I just use it in the shower, I always use it. If it were up to me to remember to use it when I'm getting ready for bed, I would always make excuses to not use it (which is exactly why I used to never wash my face!).

I will say that if you are on the fence about this product, I would highly, highly recommend it! With as much money as I spent on other products trying to get rid of my acne, I could have bought my Mia a year ago!

I was not compensated or gifted anything to write this post. These are my honest thoughts about this product that I wanted to share in case others may be considering purchasing one!

Ten Things

I haven't done a post like this in a long and since I have some new followers I thought I would do another one so maybe y'all could learn a few new things about me!!

{One} Tom and I have been living with his parents since last June. We were planning on getting married right after graduation last year, but realized things like jobs and insurance were kind of important when starting a life together. So, instead of making us continue our relationship long distance, his family invited me to live with them while we got our lives on the right track. Here we are, one year later still living with them! Good news though...Tom and I found an apartment that we are in love with and are moving at the end off September!!

{Two} This might not come as a surprise to most of y'all, but I love to shop. I get so excited every time I go shopping or when those fabulous emails arrive in my inbox at 11:00 everyday from Rue La La! It gets me in trouble some times, but I am trying to cut back!! I have got to save money to furnish our new apartment!

{Three} I am loving being a wife! Even though Tom and I have not been able to live a "normal" married life, I just love being able to wake up and go to sleep next to the man I love! {Let's be honest thought, when I say next to I really mean near...usually Elli is in the middle!

{Four} I consider Elli to be my child, even though she is my puppy. I could not imagine our lives without her. She brings so much joy to our little family! Plus, she is insanely smart {I am a very biased mama!}

{Five} I am allergic to chlorine and latex. Both make me break out in awful rashes. It is no fun, because beside the obvious of not being able to go swimming in chlorine pools, I can't go near the indoor pools at the YMCA, use certain laundry detergents, and in extreme cases, some shower water in "unfamiliar" places all make me break out!

{Six} When I was in fifth grade, I pulled out almost all of my eyelashes. I still have to be very careful when I'm anxious or nervous about something because I'll start picking at my eyebrows or my eyelashes. Wow, this makes me sound crazy! What is interesting though, is that Olivia Munn came out and says that she also has this same problem, which has a crazy medical term associated with it.

{Seven} I could live off of fresh fruits and vegetables. I just love them! Especially during the summer, I could eat my weigh in fresh peaches and strawberries!

{Eight} I love finding presents for other people. I get so excited when I find the perfect present for people--sonething I know, without a doubt they are going to love!

{Nine} My middle name is the same name as my mom and my grandmother and I plan on passing it on if I have a daughter one day.

{Ten} I have an obsession with looking at home decor. However, when I am faced with the prospect of decorating our future home, I am completely unsure of what I want to do. In my college apartment, everything was the same color--AQUA. From the throw pillows and blanket on the couch, to my bedspread, to the towels in the bathroom, EVERYTHING was aqua! I am so scared that I will do that again in our new place!

Well, I hope you guys learned a few new things about me and I hope I haven't scared you off! If you do something like this on your blog, post a comment with a link to it, so I can get to know y'all better!

Sunday Social: Fall Traditions

I'm linking up with Neely and Ashley for Sunday Social this week! I have seen this link-up floating around my favorite blogs lately and wanted to try it out this week!

Sunday Social

Here are this weeks Q & A's from yours truly!

1. What is your favorite Fall activity?

I love sipping on some Pumpkin Spice Coffee from my Keurig {so delicious, definitely stock up when they release it this year} and burning an apple spice candle {or any similar smelling Scentsy!}.

2. Do you follow a football team? if so which one and why?

Tom is a very religious New York Giants fan and I have adopted them as "my team."  I'm from North Carolina so, I guess, I should cheer for the Panthers...

3. What is something fun about Fall in your area?

Last year was my first Fall in Virginia.  It is not too terribly different from Fall in North Carolina, but the air just gets so crisp and fresh up here!  I love that this area of the country truly has four distinct seasons.

4. Fav Fall outfit staples?

Of course, I turn to Pinterest for this!

5. Thing you are looking forward to most about this coming Fall season?

I'm looking forward to cooler weather, delicious hot drinks, yummy smelling candles, carving pumpkins...Can you tell that I'm excited?!

6. Favorite Fall holiday? Traditions?

I love Halloween!  Tom and I always watch scary movies throughout the month of October and then watch Hocus Pocus on Halloween night.  We're wild and crazy kids, I tell ya! Ha!
