Christmas 2012 Decorations

I was so excited to decorate our new apartment for Christmas this year!  I decorated my college apartment, but it wasn't too elaborate, because, let's face it, I was a college student and didn't spend too much time there.

I want this Christmas to be special and memorable because it is our first married Christmas!  I want us to start making our own traditions, while still being able to do things with both of our families.  I started out by pulling out our Christmas decorations the weekend after Christmas to evaluate what we had and what we still needed.  I had in mind the stockings that I wanted from Target, as well as the small tree.  I didn't feel that we needed/had room for a large tree this year and actually love how the little pre-lit tree turned out.  I would still like to put out a few more decorations {I know, it is only a few days until Christmas, but I still love decorations!}, but this is where we are currently at!

And Santa has already come to visit Elli--who has already pulled down her stocking once!  She just knows that it is full of new toys and treats and cannot wait for Christmas morning {even though she has to!}.

Have a wonderful day!

Catching Up: Thanksgiving

The Monday before Thanksgiving, I broke down and went to the doctor after not feeling well the entire weekend before.  My dad, Betsy, and my grandparents were coming to town for Thanksgiving and I did not want to be sick/contagious for when they came up.  Turns out, I had/have bronchitis and walking pneumonia, but I was not going to let that get me down!  I went to work the next day, but was sent home after lunch because I could not stop coughing {one of the benefits of working at a doctor's office--they know when you are truly sick!}.  They told me to go ahead and stay home the next day, too, which allowed me to get plenty of rest before the holiday.

I did have a cutie pie keeping me company...

And found out that this soup is amazing!

For Thanksgiving, we all were going to Tom's parents' house, since they have a bigger place and could host that many people.  I offered to make the green rice, banana pudding, and apple pie.

Dad, Betsy, M, and Poppop arrived in the early afternoon on Thanksgiving and we were all so excited to see them!  We spent a little while catching up and then I road to Wal-Mart with Dad and Betsy.  I am not kidding, there were already people sitting next to the palettes of the Black Friday deals that they wanted.  Apparently, Wal-Mart cuts open various different displays at different times and this woman was camped out, complete with chair and all, waiting for her display to be opened up so she could grab the four-burner crock pot.  Craziness.

We had such a delicious meal and SO MUCH FOOD!  We were definitely well fed for Thanksgiving!

Tom and I made it out for Black Friday (well, it was still Thursday) shopping at Target.  Tom got a new Playstation 3 and I got an electric toothbrush, ha!  Honestly, I am thrilled with my new toothbrush, and I'm sure I might play some on his Playstation, too!

On Friday, Tom, Tom's mom, my dad, Betsy, M, Poppop, and myself all headed up to Williamsburg for the day.  We had such a wonderful time walking around and little elves must have been working all night because Christmas decorations had started to go up!  I absolutely love Williamsburg at Christmas!

After we got back from Williamsburg, we went to a great dinner over in Virginia Beach at Waterman's {no affiliation to us, unfortunately!}.  It was absolutely amazing!  If y'all are ever in the Virginia Beach area, I highly recommend it!

On Saturday, we just had a low key day.  Tom and Poppop hung out at the apartment watching football, while Dad, Betsy, M, and I ran back over to Virginia Beach to hit The Fresh Market and Trader Joe's.  We picked up some fantastic food for us to snack on for dinner.  On the way back, we decided we wanted to stop in to Target.  Well, my fabulous navigation skills kicked in and we missed the exit so had to take another and go in the back way.  It was a good thing we did, because we came across the best bistro/market!  It is called Taste and is apparently a local chain.  Oh my goodness, y'all, this place is awesome!  It has the most delicious pimiento cheese and basil aioli!  So good!  Plus, they sell Orangina which is one of my favorite drinks!!

It was so much fun having part of my family here for Thanksgiving.  It is so hard not being able to go home for holidays, but having them here made it a little bit easier!

Catching Up: Mom and Mattie Come to Visit

First of all, I am so very sorry about my lack of posting!  I came back, posted an insane amount, and then disappeared.  I have a good excuse this time, I came down with bronchitis and walking pneumonia.  Not a very good combination.  After three weeks, I am still getting over it.  Luckily, the coughing is down to a minimum and I'm starting to feel like myself again.  Let me tell you, it is no fun getting sick this time of year, especially when it means being sick while family is in town and also having to miss my company Christmas party for the second year {I was sick last year for it, too}.  Okay, enough of my whining, I have a LOT to catch my little blog up on!

At the beginning of November, my mom and sister, Mattie, came up to visit us.  We had hoped to get it worked out for them to come up in October, but it just didn't work out.  We had a very busy weekend!  I left work early Friday to meet them back at our place.  They unloaded the car and then we headed out to run errands and grab lunch.  We ate at a local chain that is similar to Panera and it was so yummy!  I got a wedge salad and tomato soup and it hit the spot! After lunch, we headed to Target where mom picked up a little three-foot Christmas tree for my grandparents {which I headed back and grabbed one for us later that week--we just don't have the room for a full size tree and these were just too darn cute!}.  After Target, we began to drive back to the apartment to let Elli out, feed her dinner, and get ready for dinner with the Watermans at our favorite Mexican restaurant.  However, I forgot about five o'clock traffic.  Like seriously, it just slipped my mind.  We sat on the highway for an hour before we got to the next exit to take the back way to the apartment.  I could have kicked myself!  Needless to say, we were a little late to dinner with Tom's family!

The next morning, Tom cooked us breakfast while us girls got ready.  After breakfast, Mom, Mattie, and I headed up to Williamsburg for the day.  We stopped at the Outlets to start the day out...they were absolutely PACKED!  We only made it to Ann Taylor Loft, Gap, and J. Crew; we just didn't have it in us to fight all of the crowd.  I did find an adorable polka dot dress to wear to my Christmas party {too bad, that didn't happen} and Tom's cousin's wedding in February.

After the outlets, we headed to Colonial Williamsburg.  We didn't actually tour anything, we just wanted to walk around the town and do some shopping.  We had so much fun walking around {it was a beautiful weekend}.

At the open air market, my sister and I had fun modeling their various hats...and of course posed for pictures!

We quickly made our way down the street to make it to the bakery before they closed.  If you go to one place in Williamsburg, make sure you make it to their bakery and get their gingerbread cookies and hot apple cider.  Oh my goodness, they are heaven!

We had reservations at Christiana Cambell's Tavern {so good, it is my favorite tavern} for dinner.  It did not disappoint!  This particular tavern specializes in seafood and I cannot tell you how much we all enjoyed it and how incredibly stuffed we were!

Mom had gotten us tickets for the tavern ghost walk after dinner.  We heard some very intriguing ghost stories about the local taverns and it gave us plenty of time to walk off our dinner!

Before leaving Williamsburg, we stopped for fudge at the local chocolate shop.  Then it was time for our drive home.

The next morning, we went to a local restaurant for breakfast.  Man, was it good!  Tom got an omelet, mom got "Maters, Taters, and Ham," Mattie got "Bowl o' Biscuits," and I got Banana's Foster French Toast.  Let's just say, we all ate very, very well this weekend!

Then, it was time for Mattie and Mom to hit the road back to North Carolina.  The weekend went by way too fast, but we had such a great time!

Wedding Pictures {Photographer's Cut}

So what if it has already been five months since our wedding {can someone tell me why these past five months have already flown by?? I feel like I'm going to blink and it is going to be our one year anniversary!}, and I am just now going through our photographer's pictures from that day?  My poor computer is having a seriously hard time lately and cannot do anything with it's CD drive, so it's been a pain trying to upload these pictures to my computer, but I finally took the time to do it.

Our photographer sent us 425 edited pictures on the disk.  I would love to bore you guys to death by sharing them all, but I know that it would most likely bore you to death!  So, I'm going to narrow it down the best I can and share my absolute favorite ones with you guys.  Now I'm not going to lie, there are going to be a lot of pictures in this post...but everyone loves posts with lots of pictures, right?!

Thank y'all for letting me share pictures from our special day with you!
