Graduation Weekend Recap Part Three!

We are now at graduation day! I was so nervous/excited that I did not sleep one minute Friday night.  I just laid in bed and surfed channels...not the best idea when one of the biggest days of my life was the next day AND we were immediately packing up and moving to Virginia!

Tom and I had to be at school super EARLY and the family got there just as early so that they could get good seats!  I was so nervous the entire morning because I was scared something was going to happen and I was suddenly not going to be eligible to graduate!!  Luckily, everything went perfect!!

Here are some pictures!!

I am so happy that this weekend is over! It was such a great weekend, but so stressful!!

Tom and I are headed back to Burlington today to finish cleaning the apartment and then he is working the ACC Baseball tournament this week!  I am just looking forward to everything settling down so that we can relax and enjoy the warm weather!!

Target Tuesday...Makeup!

Graduation Weekend Recap Part Two!

So, Friday night after the receptions, we headed back to the apartment to keep packing and relax.
We decided to go to dinner at Cafe Pasta in Greensboro with my mom, Mark, Mattie, my aunt, uncle, and cousin, and Tom's parents, brother, and his uncle and cousins.
Dinner was so good and relaxed!! We had such a good time catching up and talking to everyone!!
Here are some pictures!!

Graduation Weekend Recap Part One!

I am writing to you as a newly graduated former student! Wahoo! I got a diploma today!!! :-)

The past couple of days have been a complete whirlwind! I am running off of three hours of sleep since Thursday...not good!!  This is going to Part One of Three Parts recapping graduation weekend! So the next three posts will be very picture heavy!

I am sorry for my lack of blogging this past week, but Tom and I have been packing for our move up to his parents' house this weekend.  We made it safely up to Chesapeake, Virginia with almost the entire apartment packed up, just hours after graduation! To say that I have been stressed is an understatement!

Friday, Elon had a series of receptions for the various majors.  Tom's family and my family all went to the campus and to the receptions but then proceeded to take LOTS of pictures around Elon's campus (recently voted #1 most beautiful campus!!).

True Life After College

In a perfect world, Tom and I would both be gainfully employed after graduation and still planning on getting married on June 18th.

In a perfect world, we would be looking for a house to rent with a big back yard, at least three bedrooms, a big kitchen, and a front porch with a swing.

In a perfect world, we would not be worried about paying of massive student loans (mine) or worrying about health insurance after graduation.

One thing I've realized in the last couple of months is that this is not a perfect world, but is instead the real world.  While things "fall into place" it doesn't always happen over night.

Instead of going off and conquering the world, Tom and I have decided to move up to his parents' house in Virginia for the summer while he looks for a job in the world of Sports Broadcasting while we get "summer jobs" to start saving money for all of the bills we will begin to face.

After weighing all of our options, we realized that by moving up to his parents house, we could not only keep our little family together, but there is a plethora of jobs that we could get for the summer up there and be able to save every single penny that we make.  Plus, they have a giant fenced in back yard, a big yellow lab, and a salt-water pool that our fur-baby can enjoy.

While real life is not the same as our perfect world, it isn't all bad.  Tom and I are graduating (yay!) and are starting our post-college lives together!  We are anxiously awaiting on him hearing back from all of the applications that he has sent out (I mean to every state from South Dakota to Louisiana!) and once he gets a "Yes, we want to hire you!" we will pack up our cars and head to wherever in the country that job is!

This is an exciting time in our lives and I have been waiting so long to reveal to y'all what all is going on! Now...let the packing begin!

Sunday Recap!

Last night, Tom and I met up with some of his friends that he works with for the Elon radio station for dinner at Chili's.  It was so much fun and so yummy! Plus, the have a new drink on the menu that's like a cherry limeade but with vodka! Yum yum yum!  We met them later on that night for a party at their house...last party of my college career!

Afterwards, Tom and I ended up finding No Strings Attached at Redbox so we picked that up and spent another night watching movies (becoming sort of a routine, huh?)!  It was really funny and not your typical romantic comedy, definitely worth a rental!! :-)

Today, we slept in (thank goodness, I've been seriously running on fumes these last couple of weeks!) and then headed to Target to pick up a few things to start packing up the apartment to move out by the end of the month!  This afternoon, we headed to High Point for my good friend's graduation party.  We started kindergarten together and went all the way in school together until after freshman year of college (we roomed together freshman year!)!  It was so much fun seeing her and her family...we had a great time!

Here are some pictures of us over the years...courtesy of Facebook since I am at school without my laptop and hundreds of pictures...
Us in Kindergarten...yes I had a large head!

Us at a Pub in England (During a Chorus Trip)

Us on Homecoming Court Senior Year of High School

Us at High School Graduation

I just realized that we are always on the same side in pictures...very weird!

On the agenda for tonight/tomorrow--Final Exam at 8:00 AM tomorrow morning for British Women Novelists (yes, it is as exciting as it sounds).  So my night consists of "studying" (let's face it, I've made it this far without studying, why start  now?!) and preparing for my last exam...ever! Then, the rest of the week will be spent packing/relaxing/reading/blogging/shopping (?) Wow! Where has this year gone?!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!!!

New Look and Weekend Happenings

As you can see, I have made another new layout for my blog.  As much as I really loved the colors of my previous design, it was really in your face.  I love the colors of my new blog and I might continue to do tweaks to it for a couple of days until it is perfect! :-) Tom had a couple of things to do at school this morning so I tagged along and was able to use Photoshop at school so that I could make a new design! Boy, oh boy, do I love Photoshop! I told Tom that when I get a new computer, I am definitely getting Photoshop, too! He agreed! Yay!

Thursday night, Tom and I watched Tangled.  Y'all, this movie is too cute! I have been very hesitant about the newer Disney movies because, let's face it, they are not nearly as good as the classics.  When I was little I was all about Cinderella...so much so that I wore a Cinderella costume constantly--like to the grocery store.  I guess my mom decided to choose her battles with a four year old!! :-)  However, Tangled was amazing! Tom said the entire movie "I am so mad at that old woman for stealing that baby! She could have had such a good life at the castle with her parents!" It was so sweet!  That being said, I have already informed Tom that I want Tangled for my birthday this year!

Last night, we decided to rent The King's Speech and Little Fockers.  The King's Speech was probably one of the best movies that we have seen in a long time!  I can totally understand why Colin Firth won the Oscar for best actor, but Geoffrey Rush got robbed--his role was amazing and he should have won for best supporting actor!  After watching this film, I completely understand why it won for best motion picture!  I told Tom that I really like movies like this...it was completely character driven.  There was no sex or violence, it was just a look at people and what makes them who they are! So good!

Little Fockers had some great laughs, although a somewhat predictable plot line.  It was very cute, though!  I definitely recommend this movie for a good night in!

I think we are going to try to run out to Redbox to rent No Strings Attached to watch tonight! I hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend!!

It's As If Blogger Knew...

...that I have a 10+ page paper due today by 5:00 pm and that it better go "down" or else I would never get it done!

That being said, I have mixed feelings for it coming back when I'm at page 7 with 3 hours to go...couldn't it have stayed offline until I got to the tenth page??

Just kidding. But I am frustrated they deleted my post from yesterday! Ugh...

So now to finish my paper comparing Buffy, Bella, and Sookie...wow that sounds like I'm kidding but I'm being 100% serious.  I take a Vampire class in college.  It's my senior year and I'm graduating in a week...cut me some slack!

I promise to be a better blogger and actually blog something that might make some sense very soon!!

((PLUS last night when I was at school I started fooling around with Photoshop and made a new blog background and header but since Blogger was down I couldn't do anything with it...yet!))

Weekend Recap!

This weekend Tom and I were swamped with last-minute school work, but we made a good effort to enjoy one of our last weekends of college.

Friday night, we had to run home to pick up my college announcements so that I could assemble them, address them, and mail them out this week.  On the way back to town, we decided just to head to school and grab dinner at the on-campus "sports bar" (not really a bar since they don't serve beer, but hey its college) where we can use up our surplus of meal plans.  After feasting on the oh-so-healthy grilled cheese on wheat bread (hey, at least I got wheat bread not white bread!) we headed back to the apartment to watch a movie.

We watched Black Swan that I had gotten from Netflix.  Oh my goodness, it was such a good movie.  We are a horror-movie loving couple, and this film had us on the edge of our seats for the entire movie.  It isn't a typical horror-movie, more of a psychological thriller, but it was SO GOOD.  On top of that, it was simply beautiful!  I highly recommend this film...I even hinted to Tom that we should get it for our collection of DVDs!
After we watched that, we decided to go to one of my favorite scary movies: The Hitcher.  I actually prefer this movie to the original (I have mixed feelings on remakes of traditional horror movies, some are hits and some are major misses)!  I just love Sophia Bush and I like that she doesn't play the damsel in distress in this film but the butt-kicker!

Saturday, Tom and I spent way too many hours doing work at school.  Like, seriously not even funny!  However, we have made major headway on papers/studying for finals which is really good!  That night we went to the steakhouse on campus (again to use up our meal plans, seriously, I get 5 a week but have managed to get 50+!! how does that happen?!).  It was a very good treat to get a steak for dinner!
We continued our trend of watching movies and chose the first two Mummy films.  How in the world had I never seen these before?! I LOVED them! And then to top the night off we watched the first Indiana Jones film, since The Mummy reminded me of it!

Sunday, we went to school again and spent eight hours doing work.  However, being the queen of multitasking, I smartly decided that while I was working on a paper, I could plug headphones in to the huge Mac desktops at school and watch a Netflix Instant View! Great decision! I chose to watch a show called "Harper's Island."  I want to know how I missed this show actually being on television!  It is a murder-mystery show that only lasted one season (not sure how it would have been made into multiple seasons, since almost everyone dies), but it definitely helped keep me motivated yesterday!

Last night, we finished off the Indiana Jones trilogy and just snacked around the apartment.  We are "trying" to eat all of the food in the apartment before we move (in less than a month!) and it is not working out so well!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!!  Wish me luck on my last day of school ever tomorrow!!

An Apology

First and foremost, welcome to all of my new followers! You have no idea how excited I get every time I see the follower number go up!  Feel free to look around, ask me questions, leave me comments...you get the idea!

Now for the apology: This is my last full week of college classes...EVER! I have classes Monday and Tuesday, but yesterday, today, and tomorrow will be the last Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of classes! It is definitely bittersweet; I am going to miss Elon so much, but I'm also looking forward to starting the next chapter in my life!  I am so sorry that I have started to neglect my blog...I have been doing mindless posts lately and I am so sorry! Once my life calms down I promise I will be back to all of the chaos that is my life!

However, despite all that is going on in my life, I managed to finish My Sister's Keeper last weekend.  Granted, this book was for a class, but it did feel like a "fun-read."  I'm going to be honest, at some point throughout the novel I hated every character in the novel and the ending tears at your heartstrings...BUT I am glad that I read it!

Next up...I went out on Tuesday and grabbed the new Women's Murder Club Book (10th Anniversary) and the first novel in the Sookie Stackhouse series (what True Blood is based on)! Once I am done writing my three papers and studying for my one and only exam (hopefully, one's still up in the air) then I cannot wait to tackle these books!!!

Do y'all have any recommended good reads??
