I Want To Go Back Here

I am currently working on shutting down my Facebook (another whole story...pretty much I don't use it for anything else other than wasting time!) and I am copying pictures I have been tagged in or old pictures from before I had this laptop into my iPhoto and have actually enjoyed going through a time warp into my past.

My senior year of high school, my school choir went on our annual spring trip. This year I was extra excited...instead of going to Disney or Williamsburg, we were going on a week-long trip to England, Ireland, and Wales! I was beyond excited! After some begging and pleading, my mom agreed to let me go and my grandparents graciously agreed to fund the trip as my graduation present. What I didn't know was that one week in three COUNTRIES is not enough time to see anything! I only got a little taste of what they had to offer, but I was instantly hooked.

I loved London! We only got a few hours in London to explore after we visited the British Museum (which was remarkable!). My funny story about the trip: I wanted to buy a Burberry purse from the Burberry flagship store in London. I had saved up my money so that I could afford such a luxury and then headed straight to the store, forgoing going into Harrods. I picked out the bag I wanted and headed to the register. (Backstory: The night before, when we had arrived, I had trouble using my debit and credit card but had made an expensive collect call home--$60!!--and hoped that my mom had taken care of the problem) Well...an hour later Burberry took care of the problem for me! Apparently, we had not taken the proper precautions of letting the bank and credit card company know that I was traveling out of the country and to allow transactions to occur. The employs at the store were beyond understanding and extremely kind to call the company and work things out for me! I had no idea what to do, I was 17 in a foreign country with no parents with me!!

The entire trip was beyond what I had expected. I loved all the sights, smells, tastes of the amazing countries I visited. Unfortunately, we saw most of the places by bus and that was just not fair! They could have dropped me off and I would have wandered around the cities enjoying everything I could see!

Here are a few pictures of our trip...sadly I have no pictures of just me from the trip. I would do anything for a solo picture of me!

{I'm on the far left on the back row (my head is hardly visible)}
{I'm the second from the right on the second row}
{I am on the first standing row in the bright aqua jacket with my prized Burberry!}

{I am in the center, the girl on the left is my friend since Kindergarten and was my Freshman roommate here at Elon}

Have a great weekend!!!

Way to Long Without Posting...

First off, thank you guys for the sweet comments about our engagement pictures! I have been fighting my internet connection trying to get them uploaded to Shutterfly so I can print them off and see how they look in print before we decide which one to run for our announcement in the newspaper (yes I know, you live in a small Southern town when...).

Truth be told though, this week has kicked my booty. We are on the verge of our fall break (thank goodness!) but that also means that in all of my classes this week there has either been a midterm (yuck!) or a paper due (double yuck!). Along with all the wonderful goodness of school this week, my horrible immune system has decided to take an early fall vacation and has left me feeling cruddy!

Right now, Tom is in the other room enjoying my BFF (Stevie the TV, Friends reference) while I'm stuck in the bedroom ATTEMPTING to write my final paper before it is Fall Break! However, this paper is for my science class and since I am a history major science is not.so.much my cup of tea. I have read five articles about this person I am supposed to be writing about and do not comprehend a darned thing that I have read. Could it be the cold medicine acting up? Probably, but I blame it on my non-science head playing tricks on me!

I can see the light at the end of a long, long tunnel but am fighting it for some reason...I am the world's number one procrastinator. Tomorrow after I turned this stinking paper in to my mean professor (not really mean, he just seems like a monster to me right now!), Tom and I are headed up to his parents' house for a long weekend of relaxation! I am looking so forward to it! I think his parents think he is marrying a narcoleptic because all I ever do up there is sleep- I mean I wake up from a nap, move downstairs, start watching Tom and his brother play video games and I fall asleep on the floor, and then it is time for bed...the best part is Elli has a buddy to play with up there! Tom's childhood dog Simba resides at his parents' home and they are best friends...we mention his name to her and she gets very tail-thumping excited!

This is how the stink heads play!

Have a great weekend, y'all!

Engagement Pictures

Yesterday, Tom and I met my mom in High Point for our engagement photo session. We had such a good time and hopefully got some good options not only to run in the paper but to give as gifts for Christmas to family members. Here are a few from yesterday...

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

8 Questions!

Sydnal over at Synfully Delicious tagged me for the 8 question game...so here goes!

1. What is your favorite book?

This is a seriously hard question--I read every single chance I get and I love almost everything I pick up!

{Source}

Back in the day this was my favorite book series! I had read every single Nancy Drew book by the time I was in the forth grade and then went on to read the non-original books about Nancy that were never as good as the originals. I still to this day buy the Nancy Drew computer hat

Continuing on with the mystery book trend, I LOVE this series by James Patterson! It describes how four amazingly talented, strong women solve the case and maintain stellar friendships with each other. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a new series!

2. What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about being the best fiance to Tom, the best mommy to my furbaby, Elli, and the best daughter, sister, cousin, niece, and granddaughter possible.

I am also passionate about hopefully being a teacher next year. It took me all four years of college to finally nail down that I want to teach and I just pray that I am fortunate enough to find a teaching position teaching history after I graduate. I feel that history is an extremely underrated class in high school and being a history major, I want to show my passion about this subject and hopefully inspire students to be as passionate about the subject as I am!

3. What is something you would learn how to do?

I want to learn how to knit (something besides a simple scarf), sew (other than re-attaching buttons), draw (other than stick figures), crochet (something that I regret not getting my great-grandmother to teach me), and anything else crafty that I do not already know how to do! I love scrapbooking and design!

4. Which came first the chicken or the egg?

Umm...well without the chicken you couldn't have the egg, but without the egg you couldn't have a chicken. Honestly, I believe the chicken came first but it hurts my head to think about!

5. What is your favorite leisure activity?

I love my DVR! Without my DVR, I honestly think I would never watch TV. Right now I only have 11 hr HD recording time left or 71 hr SD recording time left; luckily, we have an old TV so our only recording is SD (Sadly, this time amount is only after I deleted tons of old shows and limited the number of episodes of Law and Order SVU, Matlock, and The View it could save! (I sound like an old woman)

Other than TV, I like reading, playing with my furbaby, and spending time with Tom. Especially if we get to go shopping somewhere!

6. Describe a time you got in trouble.

Technically, this is a time I did not get in to trouble, but it is a very funny story and coincidentally the story of how I met Tom. I went to a party in his suite and proceeded to spend the rest of the night talking with Tom and getting to know him. However, our night at the party only lasted maybe 2 hours because campus police busted in and proceeded to make everyone either be breathalyzed or written up. Luckily, Tom and his suitemates vouched that I wasn't drinking (since I didn't realize that there was a breathalyzer) and I ended up not having to pay a fine to the University and do restitution hours. However, it was the night that I got to know Tom, received his phone number, and began "talking." Now, almost three years later, it is our beloved story of how we met!

7. What about your personality do you wish you could change?

Well, I would be more adventurous and outgoing. When I am in class or at work, I am probably the most soft-spoken person there. I really want to start speaking up for what I want and offering my ideas in my classes. Slowly, I am starting to talk more in my classes, especially my English class I am in, and it is very exciting for me!

Also, I have a quick temper that I really need to work on. It is such a jump from me being soft-spoken to full-on hulking out but trust me, it happens.

8. What are you vain about?

I am vain about what I wear and how I look. Now don't get me wrong, I don't go to school in ball gowns or "dressed to the nines" but I also don't go out in work-out clothes or sweat pants. When I am around my apartment I immediately dress in my comfy clothes, but when I am out in public I am at least wearing jeans and a cute top and shoes. I also prefer to have a little makeup on- I have never been one to wear a ton of makeup but I do like to at least have on a little powder, blush, and mascara before I greet the world! (I don't want to scare them early in the morning, even though it is October: the month of Halloween!!)

Top 2 Tuesday: Dream Kitchens

Today's topic for Top 2 Tuesday is your dream kitchen. Right now, our apartment kitchen is not big at all...there is absolutely no counter space which makes cooking next to impossible! So for obvious reasons, my dream kitchens are huge, open, and contain plenty of counter space for me to cook and bake to my hearts desire!!!
